US supports efforts to promote peace and stability in South Caucasus, says State Department

We are tracking press reports in general and don’t have any additional information to share, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said, referring to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement that they hope a peace agreement will be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan as soon as possible.

When asked by a journalist whether there is any connection between the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Abu Dhabi and Rubio’s statement, and whether Washington currently has a clear plan or proposal for signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he noted:

“First, regarding the peace process, the United States supports those efforts to promote peace and stability in the South Caucasus. We also are tracking the referenced press reports in general and don’t have any additional information to share. But as you know also, I think the Trump Administration and Secretary Rubio’s approach speaks for itself, and his remarks at the cabinet meeting is that this is an administration working for peace. They will do what and go wherever they need to go. It has not waned. It is because it is the core of the commitment to making America great again is improving, of course, the condition of the world around us,” Bruce stated.
