
371 people arrested in Turkey in connection with coup attempt
Turkey’s police have arrested 371 individuals suspected of links to the Gülen-affiliated Fethullahist movement, which the local authorities accuse of attempting a coup on July 15, 2016, in the country, NTV reports.
According to the channel, the operations were carried out simultaneously in 60 provinces across the republic.
To remind, on July 15-16, 2016, a group of Turkish military personnel and civilians attempted a coup, during which more than 250 people were killed and approximately 2,200 injured.
Turkish authorities have repeatedly stated that these events were an attempted coup in the country and have accused Fethullah Gulen, considered the main opposition to the Turkish president, of orchestrating the attempt.
