Israel and Syria reach ceasefire agreement in Suwayda
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack has announced that Israel and Syria have reached a ceasefire agreement in Syria’s Suwayda province, with the support of the United States, Turkey, Jordan, and other countries in the Middle East.
“We call on the Druze, Bedouins, and Sunnis to lay down their arms and work together to build a new and unified Syrian identity alongside other minority groups,” Barrack wrote on X.
To remind, in mid-July, clashes broke out in Syria’s Suwayda province between Bedouin militias and armed Druze groups. In response, the Syrian government deployed troops, while Israel backed the Druze community and carried out strikes on Damascus.
