Ukraine could become for Trump what Afghanistan was for Biden, Bloomberg reports

The Ukraine crisis could become for current White House leader Donald Trump what the Afghanistan war was for former U.S. President Joe Biden, Bloomberg reports.

Resolving the conflict in Ukraine “is not an easy task,” and ultimately, its duration could hold Trump accountable. However, as Bloomberg notes, if he chooses to withhold additional military aid to Kyiv and oppose Russia, Trump could be accused of not taking sufficient action. This would be similar to the situation Biden faced when he ordered U.S. troops to withdraw from Afghanistan.

“Trump has been leading the U.S. for nearly six months, and the war continues—now, it’s on Trump’s watch. He understands that he could face serious accusations if Putin wins during his administration,” said former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, John Herbst.
