Pashinyan tells Erdoğan establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan creates opportunity for new level of regional cooperation

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Government reports.

The prime minister briefed the president of Turkey on the results of the Aug. 8 talks in Washington, including the pre-signing of the “Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the joint appeal to the OSCE on dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity, as well as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity initiative.

Pashinyan noted that the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan creates an opportunity to form a new level of regional cooperation.

The sides also discussed issues on the Armenia–Turkey bilateral agenda, in particular, the implementation process of previously reached agreements. The prime minister noted that the environment is now more favorable than ever for implementing these agreements. The sides agreed to continue active political dialogue.
