Putin and Trump to discuss ‘Zangezur Corridor’ issue, says Vodolatsky

Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump may discuss the issue of control over the “Zangezur Corridor” — a transport route between the territories of Armenia and Azerbaijan — during their upcoming meeting in Alaska, Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, told TASS.

On Aug. 8, following a trilateral meeting in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration on achieving a peaceful settlement between Baku and Yerevan, as well as on the creation of a transport corridor between the two South Caucasus republics. The corridor will be named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. Armenia has granted the United States the right to manage this corridor for 99 years.

“The issue of control over the Zangezur Corridor will also be discussed during the bilateral meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States,” a source of the agency said.
