Putin’s special envoy condemns demolition of monuments in Azerbaijan
Mikhail Shvydkoy, Russian President Special Envoy for International Cultural Cooperation, has condemned the demolition of monuments in Azerbaijan. He made the comments in an interview with RBC.
“The destruction and desecration of monuments to cultural figures—wherever it takes place—cannot but provoke an extremely negative reaction,” Shvydkoy said.
He expressed regret over Baku’s attempts to politicize the cultural sphere.
“Politics lives in the present, while cultural relations are eternal, and this must be understood,” Shvydkoy stated.
