Ukraine’s leadership working against Trump’s peace efforts, says Lavrov

The actions of Kyiv’s authorities and their Western backers are undermining U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow following talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

“The objectives pursued by Ukraine’s current leadership — objectives clearly fueled by Kyiv’s Western sponsors — are directed against the efforts of President Trump, with whom we are actively and concretely cooperating in the search for long-term and stable solutions aimed at addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict,” Lavrov stated.

According to him, representatives of the Kyiv regime have shown they are not interested in a fair and lasting settlement of the conflict. Lavrov added that Europe, in essence, is proposing external military intervention in part of Ukraine’s territory, which he said is absolutely unacceptable for Russia.
