Trump sends Aliyev joint photos with note, “You are a great leader”

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has published joint photos with U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He stated that the photos were sent to him by Trump, with one bearing the inscription: “Ilham, you are a great leader.”

“I extend my deep gratitude to President Donald Trump for the historic photos he kindly gifted me with his personal signature, as well as for the warm words he inscribed,” Aliyev said in an X post.

On Aug. 8, Pashinyan, Aliyev, and Trump held talks in Washington. As a result, Armenia and Azerbaijan pre-signed a peace agreement and signed a trilateral Washington Declaration, which includes provisions on the joint unblocking of transport links in the South Caucasus. Under the peace treaty, the parties renounced territorial claims against one another.
