No one will be able to resist ‘Zangezur Corridor’ implementation, says Lukashenko

Belarus’s President Alexander Lukashenko has spoken about a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the signing of an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington was discussed.

“I congratulated him… Armenia and Azerbaijan are, after all, a big plus. I said, “Well done for finding the opportunity to bring everyone to the negotiating table and for managing to reach an agreement with Armenians and Azerbaijanis on signing such a deal.’ I know that this ‘Zangezur Corridor’ was extremely necessary to ensure the connection with Azerbaijan. They made their position clear and said that they will be the owners of this project and they will control it. It’s a big deal,” Lukashenko said.

According to him, the project “does not really sit well with the Iranians,” especially because it concerns their border.

“But no one will be able to resist it. These are peace agreements that will help build a corridor through Armenia’s territory. Now the two regions—Azerbaijan and its exclave—will be connected not only by air routes. It is well deserved,” the Belarusian president noted.
