Iran ready for war with Israel, says Araghchi

Iran admits that armed confrontation with Israel could flare up again but says it is fully prepared for any developments in the region. The statement was made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in an interview with Al Awsat.

“Anything is possible, but we are ready for all scenarios. During the 12-day war, the Zionist entity and the United States failed to achieve any of their objectives, while Iran bravely resisted and at the same time responded to aggression,” Araghchi said when asked about the likelihood of renewed clashes between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

According to the minister, Israel unilaterally called for an “unconditional ceasefire” 12 days after launching attacks on Iranian territory. “If they want to repeat this scenario, we are ready. However, the 12-day war proved that the military option has failed. Therefore, I doubt they will resort to such a move again. But if they do, they will face a similar, but even harsher, response,” Araghchi added.

The recent conflict began on the night of June 13, when Israel launched military operations against Iran. A day later, the Islamic Republic carried out counterattacks. The United States entered the confrontation nine days later, striking Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. On June 23, Iran retaliated by targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. airbase in the Middle East. Following this escalation, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on June 24.
