Israel reports killing of Hamas security chief in Gaza

The Israeli Air Force has killed Mahmoud Al Aswad, the head of Hamas’s security apparatus in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

“An Israeli Air Force aircraft struck and eliminated terrorist Mahmoud Al Aswad, who led Hamas’s security apparatus in the western Gaza Strip,” the IDF statement read.

According to an IDF spokesperson, Al Aswad was a key figure within Hamas’s security apparatus and served as an important source of intelligence.
