Erdoğan hopes Azerbaijan-Armenia talks will lead to lasting peace

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed hope for the success of further negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting that both Ankara and Moscow seek stability in the Caucasus, the Turkish leader’s office says.

“President Erdoğan expressed hope that the talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia will result in lasting peace, noting that long-term stability in the Caucasus aligns with the shared interests of Turkey and Russia,” the statement read following Erdogan’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.

Erdoğan also reiterated that Turkey continues to make efforts to help bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine. He expressed hope that the negotiations held in Istanbul between Moscow and Kyiv have contributed to the peace process.
