Aliyev and Pashinyan are looking in the same direction, says Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed optimism about peace in the South Caucasus, saying he believes the region will finally achieve long-awaited stability.

“I witnessed this during my bilateral meeting with my friend, Ilham Aliyev,” Erdoğan said.

According to him, the Washington agreement has accelerated the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijan and Armenia have largely overcome the obstacles on the path to peace and reached the final stage. I had meaningful meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and later with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In both meetings, I saw that Aliyev and Pashinyan hold similar stances. They are looking in the same direction,” Erdoğan stated.

The Turkish leader also noted that there are no disagreements regarding the “Zangezur Corridor.”

According to him, with the establishment of peace in the area designated for the “Zangezur Corridor”, regional roads and railways will be restored, border crossings will reopen, and many sectors—particularly trade—will benefit. Russia and Iran will also eventually realize that their concerns are unfounded,” Erdoğan stated.
