TASS: Pakistan to recognize Armenia at UN, clearing way for EAEU membership

Pakistan intends to recognize Armenia as a U.N. member state, a step that would pave the way for Pakistan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), sources told TASS.

“Pakistan is indeed planning to do this, and as a reciprocal measure, to reach an agreement on joining the EAEU,” one of the news agency’s U.N. sources said.

Another diplomatic source stated that the necessary procedures could take anywhere from several weeks to a few months.

“In any case, this is a predictable prospect,” the source said, noting that the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not posed any obstacles to this process.
