
Sébastien Lecornu appointed France’s new PM
French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu as the country’s new Prime Minister, Franceinfo reports, citing an official statement from the Élysée Palace.
Lecornu has served as Defense Minister since 2017.
President Macron tasked him with negotiating with parliamentary forces to secure approval of the state budget and reach consensus on key decisions in the coming months.
The appointment follows a parliamentary vote of no confidence in the previous government yesterday.
