Brazil’s Former President Bolsonaro found guilty of coup attempt
Brazil’s Supreme Court has found former President Jair Bolsonaro guilty of attempting a coup, The Guardian reports.
Three of the court’s five judges voted in favor of convicting Bolsonaro. The court is expected to announce the sentence in the coming days.
The case stems from events in October 2022, when, following his defeat in the presidential election, Bolsonaro and his supporters incited mass unrest. Demonstrators stormed the presidential palace, the parliament, and the Supreme Court buildings.
