Trump Route’s practical effectiveness can only be assessed after reviewing specific details

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the practical effectiveness of the so-called Trump Route can only be evaluated after reviewing concrete details.

“So far, this has not happened. From our perspective, the involvement of non-regional players in South Caucasus issues, including the unblocking of communications, should focus primarily on the interests of the regional countries and their immediate neighbors. In addition, other factors must be taken into account. Armenia is part of the Eurasian Economic Union’s single customs space, the ‘South Caucasus Railway’ is managed by Armenia’s railway network, and Russian border guards protect the border through which the proposed route would pass,” Zakharova said.

She added that the Russia-Azerbaijan-Armenia working group has reached numerous important agreements, which remain relevant.
