Peskov says NATO essentially at war with Russia
The Kremlin has commented on the prospects of trilateral talks involving Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine. Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there has been no progress toward holding a trilateral summit, and the negotiation process surrounding Ukraine is currently at a standstill.
“So far, there is no progress. A summit on Ukraine must be well-prepared, but Kyiv and Europe are not ready for such preparations,” Peskov noted.
He added that any high-level dialogue must be carefully planned to achieve outcomes that require expert-level groundwork in advance. However, neither the Kyiv regime nor European countries are willing to do so.
Peskov also suggested that calls for an immediate summit on Ukraine are intended primarily for emotional impact.
“There is no serious willingness from Kyiv to begin discussions. There are calls for meetings, for an immediate meeting, but these are more aimed at producing emotional influence,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesperson stated that Europe is unwilling to focus on addressing the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
Peskov further asserted that NATO is effectively at war with Russia.
“This is obvious and needs no proof. NATO provides direct and indirect support to the Kyiv regime,” he said.
Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, while in Kyiv, stated that NATO is not at war with Russia.
