Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco and Malta officially recognize State of Palestine

Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco and Malta have formally recognized the State of Palestine.

“By joining the group of countries that have recognized the State of Palestine, Belgium is today sending a powerful signal both politically and diplomatically,” Belgium’s prime minister said.

Luxembourg also announced its recognition of Palestine as a state. Prime Minister Luc Frieden stated:

“I declare that as of today, Luxembourg officially recognizes the State of Palestine. This is not the end of the process, but rather the beginning of a new phase—one based on hope, diplomacy, dialogue and the desire for peaceful coexistence.”

Malta likewise confirmed its decision to recognize Palestine.

“Let me begin with a clear and unequivocal statement: the Republic of Malta proudly confirms that it officially recognizes the State of Palestine. We are doing this as a demonstration of our steadfast commitment to a genuine and peaceful two-state solution—the only path to ensuring a future for both peoples,” the Maltese prime minister said.
