Rubio and Lavrov meet in New York

On the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Russia’s foreign ministry says.

The closed-door meeting lasted more than 50 minutes.

According to Russia’s foreign ministry, during the meeting in New York, Lavrov and Rubio confirmed their mutual interest in finding a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis. The U.S. Department of State said in a statement that during the discussions Rubio reiterated President Trump’s call to end the conflict in Ukraine.
