Present government responsible for current situation, says Raffi Hovhannisyan

Our generation, our leaders, all of us, share a comprehensive shame for allowing part of our homeland to be emptied of Armenians and for the loss of a generation of brave young men and women, Raffi Hovhannisyan, leader of the Heritage party, said at the Yerablur Military Pantheon.

He noted that all of this occurred with the direct complicity of the current authorities, support from Russian allies, and amid the empty words and inaction of the international community—despite having a state.

“The responsibility is ours. Either our generation must work, without losing hope, to change the situation, or this cycle will continue,” Hovhannisyan said.

While stating that all past governments have made major mistakes leading to today’s situation, he stressed that the main responsibility lies with the current authorities due to their complicity.

“There is no point in blaming one another; today, the issue is taking responsibility. Primarily, the authorities must take responsibility, followed by all previous governments that created this situation. Speaking as an opposition to all governments, I should say that previous authorities, despite major diplomatic, political, and security mistakes, held the line in all cases and never reached the point of coming out as state representatives testifying to the world, foreign states against their own country and their own state,” Hovhannisyan said, stating that the main responsible party, who is to blame for today’s situation, is the current government.
