White House unveils Gaza peace plan
U.S. President Donald Trump said he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed ways to end the war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.
Following his meeting with Netanyahu, Trump called the day a “historic day for peace.”
The White House today released a plan to establish peace in Gaza, proposing an end to the conflict between Israel and Hamas fighters and the return of all hostages — alive or deceased — within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the agreement.
According to the plan, the war would end immediately upon both parties’ agreement.
The White House stated that Israel would not forcibly occupy Gaza, and residents would not be required to leave the enclave.
Israeli forces would withdraw along agreed routes to prepare for the release of prisoners. The plan stipulates that after the release of all Israeli captives, Israel would free 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Gaza residents who were detained after the start of the conflict on Oct. 7, 2023.
Netanyahu has approved the plan.
