Trump again suggests Canada join US in exchange for weapons
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sept. 30 that he had discussed the future of the anti-missile defense Golden Dome system with Ottawa a few weeks ago, once again proposing that Canada become part of the United States.
“Canada called me a few weeks ago. They want to join the [Golden Dome] missile defense system, and I responded, ‘Why not just join our country? You’ll become the 51st state and get it for free,’” Trump said during a speech at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia.
