Azerbaijan’s foreign minister again talks about ‘Zangezur Corridor’ making demands to Armenia
At a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov referred to the so-called “Trump Route” as the “Zangezur Corridor”, despite the Washington agreements not mentioning any corridor.
“This route is also an integral part of the Middle Corridor. The statement on the TRIPP route at the Washington summit, which would ensure uninterrupted connection between Azerbaijan’s western regions and Nakhijevan through the Zangezur Corridor, is also an important step in diversifying regional connectivity,” Bayramov said.
He added that the Organization of Turkic States has the potential to play a more significant role in emerging international security architecture, acting as a symbol of united forces.
“Azerbaijan’s consistent efforts and targeted actions toward normalizing relations with Armenia are also aimed at establishing peace and stability in our region,” he said.
Bayramov also reiterated demands toward Armenia: “In this context, the summit held in the United States on Aug. 8 and the documents signed there are of historic importance. To properly seize this historic opportunity and conclude a peace agreement, Armenia must resolve its constitutionally established territorial claims toward Azerbaijan.”
