Erdogan and Japarov express hope Washington agreement will ensure peace and stability
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara not only follows developments in the South Caucasus but also supports efforts to establish peace in the region. Speaking at the 12th summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala, he expressed hope that the joint declaration signed in Washington on Aug. 8 would have a continuation.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of developing joint defense capabilities among Turkic states.
“We believe the Turkic world will play an increasingly significant role in ensuring the stability and security of our region,” he said.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, in turn, stressed that external threats are especially relevant today.
“We are committed to ensuring security and stability in the region. The Turkic world must address these challenges more effectively. In this context, we welcome the joint declaration signed by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. This agreement will ensure lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” Japarov said.
