Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law leave for Egypt to join Gaza peace talks
US special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will join Gaza peace plan talks between Israeli and Hamas negotiators in Egypt on Wednesday, the BBC writes.
As reported by Axios, the American officials will remain in Egypt until the mediated talks reach an agreement on the release of hostages and a cessation of military operations in Gaza.
Trump struck a positive tone on the progress of the negotiations, saying “there’s a possibility that we could have peace in the Middle East”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not comment on the status of the talks, but told Israelis they were in “fateful days of decision”.
On Sept. 29, the Trump administration released a comprehensive plan to halt military operations in Gaza and shape the region’s future.
