Scuffles and clashes in Gyumri

After several hours of investigative actions, special forces from the National Security Service arrested Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan inside the city hall building.

Oct. 20 did not dawn bright in Gyumri, with scuffles, clashes, shouting, and arrests reported throughout the morning.

According to preliminary information, eight people were arrested on charges of giving or receiving bribes, including the city’s chief architect.
