Pashinyan seriously harming Armenia’s interests and must resign immediately, says The California Courier’s chief editor

The Armenian authorities are eliminating the opposition ahead of next year’s parliamentary elections, building a dictatorship in the country rather than a democracy, Harout Sasunyan, a representative of the Armenian diaspora in the U.S. and editor-in-chief of The California Courier, told RIA Novosti with regard to recent attacks against opposition politicians in Armenia and the arrest of the mayor of Gyumri.

“Sashinyan wants to remain prime minister for another five years, and therefore, before the elections, he is trying to get rid of those who oppose him,” Sasunyan stated.

He expressed confidence that this is dictatorship, not democracy. “Pashinyan calls it democracy, but in reality, it is far from democratic and resembles dictatorship more,” he noted.

Sasunyan added that the actions of the Armenian authorities are seriously harming the country’s interests. “The Armenian people need to wake up and start protesting. They should demand that Pashinyan resign. He is seriously harming Armenia’s interests and must step down immediately,” he said.
