‘I’m glad he thinks that way, we’ll see in 6 months’: Trump on Putin’s statement that sanctions won’t affect Russia
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the impact of the sanctions he imposed on Russia will become visible in six months.
“I’m glad he thinks that way. That’s good. We’ll see what happens in six months,” Trump said when asked to comment on Vladimir Putin’s statement that sanctions would not affect the Russian economy.
“The White House expects that the fairly significant sanctions imposed by Trump will put pressure on Russia and cause harm,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
The day before, Putin, commenting on new sanctions against Russia, said that the restrictions “will not significantly affect the country’s economic well-being.”
“No self-respecting country ever makes any decision under pressure,” he added.
