Erdogan proposes holding Putin–Trump meeting in Turkey
Turkey has offered to host a potential Russia–U.S. summit on its territory, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, according to lenta.ru.
“We are ready to host such a meeting at any time,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president expressed regret that the meeting between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Budapest was canceled. He added that Ankara considers any dialogue useful for ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Erdogan also noted that Turkey has earned the trust of both Russia and the United States, which gives it an advantage on the path to peace — and that Ankara intends to use this situation for the benefit of humanity.
