Kyiv and Moscow close to ending war through diplomacy, says Russia’s presidential envoy

Kyiv and Moscow are nearing a diplomatic path to end the war in Ukraine, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has acknowledged the current front line, DW writes, referring to Russia’s Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

“I believe that Russia, the United States, and Ukraine are actually quite close to a diplomatic solution. President Zelensky has taken a major step by already accepting that this is the frontline,” Dmitriev said in an appearance on CNN.

The Russian representative added that Ukraine’s leader had previously demanded the complete withdrawal of Russian forces from the territories they currently occupy.

At the same time, he reiterated Moscow’s position on security guarantees and emphasized the importance of understanding the Kremlin’s stance regarding the continuation of military operations in Ukraine.
