Vagif Khachatryan turns 70 in Baku prison

Today marks the 70th birthday of Vagif Khachatryan, who remains imprisoned in Baku. His daughter shared an emotional message on social media, expressing the pain and helplessness her family feels as they are unable to contact him.

“Sometimes it feels like every word is unnecessary… sometimes it seems pointless to write anything or share emotions online. But there are days when silence is impossible — when words become the only way to release what’s suffocating inside․

Today is my father’s 70th birthday… and we are going mad from helplessness, because we can’t just call him and say, ‘Dad, happy birthday, we love you.’

Forgive us for our helplessness, our kind and strong father.

We are sending you a hug — as tight as our hearts allow. You will feel our warmth, the strength that will help you endure everything.

No border can separate us.

You will come back… we’re sure of it. You promised,” Khachatryan’s daughter wrote.
