Russia ready to include non-aggression principle toward NATO in future security guarantees, says Lavrov

Russia does not intend to attack any EU or NATO member states and is ready to enshrine that commitment in future security guarantees, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Lavrov noted that Russia has repeatedly stated it has not attacked and does not plan to attack any current members of the EU or NATO.

“We are ready to include this position in the future security guarantees for this part of Eurasia. However, EU leaders are avoiding a genuinely collective discussion of such future guarantees,” Lavrov said.

He did not rule out the possibility of discussing a new model of security relations in Europe on the margins of a pan-Eurasian security architecture.
