Davit Hambardzumyan arrested upon arrival (video)

Upon disembarking from the plane, security forces arrested Masis Mayor and opposition candidate for prime minister, Davit Hambardzumyan, at Zvartnots Airport.

He was sentenced to more than 6 years in prison.

Hambardzumyan, who is accused of “armed attack” (during the days of the 2018 change of power), announced yesterday, Oct. 27, that what is happening around him is political persecution.

Hambardzumyan also denied the statements of National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and MP Vahagn Aleksanyan that there was a recording and video recording confirming “armed hooliganism.”

“Simonyan and Aleksanyan are lying,” the arrested mayor said.
