Trump says Putin called him and said ‘It’s amazing, just amazing’: Trump again on resolving Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict
U.S. President Donald Trump referred again to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict during a speech in South Korea, claiming that he had successfully resolved it.
“Thanks to our efforts, millions of lives were saved. For example, take the case with Azerbaijan. The conflict had been ongoing for what seemed like 38 years. President Putin called me and said, ‘It’s amazing, just amazing.’ We couldn’t stop that war for many years — it dragged on for 38 years. But we managed… Imagine, the leaders of both countries came to the White House. At first, they kept their distance, but gradually they got closer and closer. Within an hour, they were already embracing as a sign of peace. It was truly remarkable,” Trump said, referring to the peace agreement brokered by him at the White House on Aug. 8 of this year.
