Qatar expresses willingness to mediate between US and Venezuela
Qatar has offered to act as a mediator to help resolve the crisis between the United States and Venezuela if Washington is interested, TASS reports, quoting Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
“Our efforts regarding Venezuela began during the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden, when the governments started interacting. This interaction led to the release of several American citizens,” he said.
“Now we have reestablished contacts with them. If the U.S. is still interested, we are ready to mediate and help organize [the negotiation process]. However, at this moment, nothing specific or significant is happening,” Al Thani said in New York.
