Mandatory military service term reduced as Government approves decision
At today’s government session, a draft amendment to the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen was discussed and approved.
The amendment proposes reducing the duration of mandatory military service from 24 months to 18 months.
“According to the document, the law will come into force on Jan. 1, 2026. It will not apply to servicemen who are already in mandatory military service as of that date,” Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan said during the government session.
