Arman Tatoyan slams Pashinyan as he fails to respond to Aliyev’s remarks

Arman Tatoyan, head of the Wings of Unity initiative and former Armenian Ombudsman, called on Nikol Pashinyan on Facebook to respond to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent statements.

“Nikol Pashinyan, we understand that you have ‘established peace’ and are busy with the Civil Contract show in Talin, but today the President of Azerbaijan once again said, ‘There is no Lake Sevan, and Armenians are a people brought from different places.’ Will you ever respond, or does it have to be an Armenian for you to relentlessly attack him with expressions like ‘shoe-licker’, ‘whiner’ and the like,” Tatoyan wrote.

As reported earlier, speaking at the 80th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Academy of Sciences, Aliyev stated that “there is no Lake Sevan; there is Lake Goycha.”

“Old Russian imperial maps from the early 20th century clearly show that almost all toponyms in present-day Armenia are of Azerbaijani origin. There is no Lake Sevan; there is Lake Goycha. We did not create these maps—they were drawn by Tsarist Russia, which resettled Armenians from Iran and Eastern Anatolia into Karabakh to change the ethnic composition. These maps reflect historical truth. We must study and disseminate them,” Aliyev stated.
