Trump’s son to visit Armenia to promote family business through TRIPP project, says Kommersant

Donald Trump Jr., the son of the U.S. president, is set to visit Yerevan on Nov. 12, Kommersant reports.

As noted, the main topic of the visit will be the construction of the Armenian segment of the Trump Route project, which is planned to connect Azerbaijan’s mainland with Nakhijevan.

Citing regional media outlets, Kommersant writes that Trump Jr.’s trip continues President Trump’s “enlargement diplomacy,” aimed at turning the family business, the Trump Organization, into a project to create an integrated hub along the Middle Corridor linking Central Asia and Europe.

Although the visit of the U.S. president’s son to Yerevan has not been officially confirmed, it is already being widely discussed in Armenian and Azerbaijani media, with references to sources familiar with the details of the negotiations and agenda.

At the same time, sources in Yerevan and Baku note that the visit is connected to the Trump family’s new business interests, which emerged following the Aug. 8 meeting in Washington between President Trump and the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Talks with contractors reportedly began in October, and the project has now entered the stage of forming a working group and consortium for infrastructure development.

Notably, without directly mentioning Donald Trump Jr.’s upcoming visit to Yerevan, Prime Minister Pashinyan last week highlighted the growing importance of U.S. involvement in regional connectivity efforts under the TRIPP project.

Given that the project bears Trump’s name, it is seen as symbolic that Trump Jr. himself is set to visit Yerevan — to give TRIPP not only a peace-promoting mission but also tangible economic significance.

Donald Trump Jr. serves as Executive Vice President at The Trump Organization alongside his sister Ivanka and younger brother Eric.

According to regional media reports, under a 99-year contract, one of the companies within the Trump family’s business cluster will become the main lessee of the Meghri area in Armenia’s south.

In this context, one of the main items on Trump Jr.’s Yerevan visit agenda is expected to be the formalization of U.S. business participation in the construction of the Trump Route and the future management of this transport artery.

The issue of possible Russian participation in the implementation of the Armenian section of the Trump Route remains open.
