Who is attending the Prayer Breakfast? ABC Media speaks with attendees

All attendees of the event known as the Prayer Breakfast have received invitations, one of the Evangelical Church followers told ABC Media as he hurried to the venue after already having breakfast.

“Most of us were invited. Inside, the atmosphere is very peaceful — we pray, we talk, we interact,” the attendee said.

Defrocked priest Stepan Asatryan has also been invited to the breakfast. He arrived at the event wearing a suit.

A short while ago, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan also arrived. She said she views such events very positively. Asked how she feels about the campaign against the Apostolic Church, she did not respond.

Journalists are not allowed inside the venue.

The Mother See earlier announced that it has no connection to the event, though at the request of participants, the Catholicos agreed to receive a group of attendees.

The event has been organized by NGOs with the support of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to official information, it is attended by 300 people from Armenia and abroad.

Yesterday, Pashinyan took part in a dinner held as part of the event, during which he stated that the purpose of the Prayer Breakfast is to frame Armenia as a country committed to religious freedom.
