CSTO to have new secretary general
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has said starting Jan. 1, 2026, the CSTO will have a new secretary general. The post will be assumed by Taalatbek Masadykov, who currently serves as the organization’s deputy secretary general.
“CSTO Secretary General Tasmagambetov will, of course, participate in the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council. He will leave his position on Jan. 1,” Ushakov noted.
The CSTO summit scheduled for Thursday in Bishkek will be attended by the leaders of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Tajikistan. Armenia will not take part in the summit, but has stated that it does not oppose the adoption of documents agreed upon during the meeting.
