Aliyev says right of return is fundamental human right as he speaks about Azerbaijanis’ return to Armenia
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the restoration and protection of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage in Armenia is a legitimate demand of the Azerbaijani people.
According to him, this is necessary to respect universal values, close the chapter of hostility, and promote mutual understanding between peoples.
Aliyev again addressed the issue of the rights of the so-called “Western Azerbaijan” community.
“Today it is important to intensify efforts to ensure the return of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly displaced from Armenia. After all, the right of return is one of the fundamental principles of human rights. Ensuring this right means not only the physical return to the homeland, but also the restoration of spiritual integrity, cultural heritage, and the historical memory of society,” Aliyev said.
