‘Trump Route’ strains Azerbaijan-Georgia relations, Vzglyad reports

The implementation of the TRIPP project has already caused significant problems in Azerbaijan-Georgia relations. Tbilisi has long served as the region’s main transit hub, Vzglyad reports, citing Azerbaijani media.

As noted, in recent months, concerning shifts have been observed in Baku-Tbilisi relations. Since September, Azerbaijani drivers have encountered systematic delays at the Georgian border.

According to Azerbaijani outlet Minval, the implementation of the “Zangezur Corridor” project will deprive Georgia of its logistics monopoly.

“Today Georgia is effectively acting against the establishment of a stable regional framework for peace and mutually beneficial economic ties,” Azerbaijani media reports.

However, Georgian political analyst Korneli Kakachia says that Georgia will maintain its “primary function as a bridge between Azerbaijan and Turkey,” even if the Trump Route “takes away” part of its freight transport.
