Train carrying Russian grain travels to Armenia via Azerbaijan

For the first time since the 1990s, a train loaded with grain has traveled from the Gmelinskaya station in Russia’s Volgograd region to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan, the press service of the Privolzhskaya Railway reports.

The first shipment, consisting of eight railcars, is en route to Yerevan station.

By the end of the year, 30 railcars carrying more than 2,000 tons of grain in total are planned to be transported along this route.

The Privolzhskaya Railway press service also said that the launch of the new logistics service became possible thanks to the decision to resume transit freight transportation to Armenia through Azerbaijan.
