Half of Armenia’s archbishops currently in prison, The Telegraph writes

On the British media outlet The Telegraph, well-known journalists Tim Stanley and Father Benedict Kiel discussed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s authoritarian measures and the crackdown on the Church.

International lawyer and founder of Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, shared a clip from the discussion on his Facebook page.

According to the commentators, Pashinyan currently gives the impression of a collaborator working with Azerbaijanis—ceding territory and arresting archbishops who raise protests. It is reported that half of Armenia’s archbishops are now in prison because they are opposing the prime minister.

“They describe him essentially as a tyrant. Elections are expected next year, but will they actually take place?” the commentators said.
