Zakharova says Russia welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan ongoing process of unblocking transport links

Zakharova says Russia welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan ongoing process of unblocking transport links

In accordance with the agreement reached at the latest ministerial meeting of the 3+3 regional cooperation platform held in Istanbul in October 2024, the next two meetings of foreign ministers in this format will be held in Armenia or Azerbaijan, said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

“Official information has not yet been received from our partners regarding the order and venue of the meetings. We hope they will resolve this issue soon,” she said.

“Overall, we see positive dynamics in the dialogue between Yerevan and Baku, as well as in the restoration and strengthening of connectivity in the region. We welcome the ongoing process of unblocking transport links, including the continued supply of Russian grain to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory,” Zakharova added.

All this, according to her, confirms the relevance of developing the 3+3 format, which focuses on strengthening cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, and culture.

“We would also like to see our Georgian partners at the platform’s meeting. We have many shared interests, and there will always be topics for discussion,” Zakharova noted.
