TRIPP and peace treaty with Azerbaijan key elements of Pashinyan’s campaign, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes

At the beginning of 2026, Armenia is expected to receive a visit from U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. Washington also plans to send a new ambassador to Yerevan, who will be actively involved in developing the so-called Trump Route, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.

Meanwhile, Armenia’s authorities are already drafting plans to open the border with Azerbaijan.

It is expected that the senior U.S. official will contribute to the advancement of the Trump Route and may even take part in the official launch ceremony of the TRIPP project.

The United States has so far made no comment on the matter.

At the same time, Armenia’s leadership hopes to develop cross-border trade with Azerbaijan.

If previously Baku had insisted only on changes to Armenia’s Constitution, it has now decided that a formal peace is meaningless without the launch of the Trump Route.

According to the newspaper, TRIPP and the peace agreement with Azerbaijan are the main pillars of Pashinyan’s campaign ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for next June. The opposition, however, is convinced that these projects serve the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan, thereby posing a threat to Armenia’s security.
