Aliyev says Washington document marked breakthrough for region’s peace process
The Washington document marked a breakthrough in the regional peace process, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in his New Year’s address.
“The document, which was pre-signed in Washington with the participation of the U.S. president, is viewed as an important political signal of the region’s transition from a phase of confrontation to dialogue and cooperation,” Aliyev stated, adding that the “peace agenda proposed by Azerbaijan” creates new opportunities for opening regional communications, economic integration, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
