Citizenship requirement for Artsakh people’s housing program to remain, minister says
The requirement for Armenian citizenship in the housing program for Artsakh residents will not change, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Arsen Torosyan said at a press briefing today in response to an ABC Media inquiry.
“This is not about changing passports, but about acquiring citizenship. Our Armenian passports have been travel documents with a special code. They have never been considered Armenian citizens,” Torosyan explained.
When asked whether holding an Armenian passport automatically means becoming an Armenian citizen, Torosyan replied: “You know the answer very well. I have answered; if you are not satisfied with the answer, that is your problem.”
The minister added that Artsakh residents should obtain Armenian citizenship if they see their future in Armenia.
